Calling Me In
When I first started this journey of allying myself with my outside friends, I thought that each month would be black and white. If I’m working with nourishing herbs, then I’ll explore and share my insights regarding nourishing herbs. This month is about consciousness shifting herbs, and so, I thought that I would only provide my insights on only consciousness shifting herbs and blessing herbs. With the plants calling me in, I was in for an enlightened awakening. Everything started blending together. Honestly, that’s how our lives come to formation. Nothing happens in isolation. It’s all blended fun–finding a way to happen for us.
So, true to life and spirit, that is exactly what happened to me. My insights for this month aren’t just about consciousness shifting herbs, but they are about the plants around me and the messages that they shared with me.
The most important message for this month has been to always call in the spirit of the plant. I liken this to being present and to connect with the plant. If you were outside playing in the woods as a kid or if your parents are farmers or in agriculture, then more than likely, you’ve been doing this all of your life. Plants are living beings of light; they pick up the vibration and spirit of anyone who walks by or of anyone who braves the unknown to speak with them. As elders of this planet, they crave your ear and voice. I often see the “plant mom” shirt now in stores, and it makes me think that somehow we have it backwards; we are plants’ children, a connector, and in some form, I guess their mom as well if you are nurturing one from infancy.
The How of Connection
Think of this process as communicating with a human being, especially a child. You are kind, compassionate, loving, and nurturing with your words. The child receives your undivided attention. So, when we are connecting with plants, the same applies. Currently, I am choosing to connect with the plants in my outer world more frequently and more intensely than I have before, and it has made a huge difference in my way of life and being.
A Brief Step by Step Process
- Cleanse yourself first of any unwanted energies, so that you are clear to receive.
- Sit with the plant and breathe.
- If you know the plant isn’t poisonous or will harm your skin, place your hands around the plant or hold the plant in a loving gesture. (Please use your own judgment and research regarding insects, allergies, plant types, gloves, etc).
- Ask the plant if it’s okay for you to connect with her.
- Take a moment to breathe and feel the vibration. (It’s probably easier with your eyes closed).
- Speak with her. Tell her why you chose to connect with her and whatever you want to share. It’s a conversation. You can even ask her if she has any advice for your life, situation, etc.
- Then, listen.
- Continue the exchange.
- Come back and journal the experience and any messages received.
A Part of My Experience
Plants are delicate yet strong. They are also loving yet blunt. At one point this month, I wanted to harvest some plants, so that I could understand the medicine that it brings. I thought I had Yarrow growing around me, so I started talking to the plant as though it was Yarrow. I WAS WRONG! Then, I took out my plant identification app and realized it was not Yarrow. However, it was wild carrot on one side, and on the other part of the field, it was fleabane. (I’m still learning here lol). So, I was speaking to fleabane as though it was Yarrow. Then, I realized my mistake–apologized, and then I started connecting to her as fleabane. Next, she literally said, “Come back tomorrow when you know for sure which plant you want.” I laughed! She was absolutely right, and I needed to do my due diligence.
As you call the Spirit of the plant in to you and as you connect with her, it’s a loving and learning experience. There is so much wisdom to glean if we make the time to sit and listen. Sometimes, you may get a “No,” “Not yet,” or a “Yes” when asking for permission to connect with and harvest her. In the Spirit world, it is important to wait for permission before proceeding.
In this blended fun, let me know how it is for you.
Stay tuned for next month’s insights with the world of plants and connection.
