About Course
Many of us chose the path to teach, to lead, or to be a parent because we thrive from the human connection that occurs in any of those capacities. This 1 hour interactive workshop will help to answer the question: How can we continue to build community and authentic connection in any environment, especially within ourselves, our homes, and our classrooms? In this workshop, we will discuss the effects of stress on the body and behavior, highlighting various physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms and the importance of self-care and mindfulness in managing stress. We will explore and practice 6 mindful strategies for social-emotional care that can work for all ages. They are mindful-based, scientifically proven strategies to incorporate in your homes and classrooms. Some of the strategies will include deep breathing combinations, visualization, acceptance, reflection, and movement, emphasizing the importance of a non-judgmental approach. Lastly, using 5 common questions, we will actively reflect on the strategies implemented. Come prepared to center yourself and have your crayons/colored pencils ready to join in on the fun.
